Free NASA, Mars Kinect title available now

It’s not too often folks get the chance to embrace the silky red surface of Mars, get close with the little alien homesteaders, and throw rocks at Earth. Okay, unless you’ve been playing the latest Red Faction, you probably have never done any of those, and though many us never will get that chance, we can now experience it vicariously through Kinect. Oh yeah, Microsoft promises Mars is “better with Kinect.”

In a few weeks, August 6, the Curiosity Rover will officially set its destination for Mars, and to celebrate, Microsoft has released the rover’s own game, Kinect: Mars Rover Landing via Kinect Fun Labs. As you can imagine, players will be able to touchdown on the planet and control the Curiosity Rover across the rough terrain, controller free of course. If this doesn’t entice your hunger, Microsoft also revealed that the title is free and boasts several achievements and avatar items to gain.
