Konami asked the Metal Gear Solid creator to take over Silent Hill

At the Eurogamer Expo, the creator of Metal Gear Solid and the upcoming game Ground Zeroes discussed an interesting phone call he had with Konami.

"In the past, I've mentioned Silent Hill in interviews, and as a result of that the president of Konami rung me up and said he'd like me to make the next Silent Hill," said Hideo Kojima.

"Honestly, I'm kind of a scaredy-cat when it comes to horror movies, so I'm not confident I can do it. At the same time, there's a certain type of horror that only people who are scared of can create, so maybe it's something I can do.

"That said, I think Silent Hill has a certain atmosphere. I think it has to continue, and I'd love to help it continue. And if I can help by supervising or lending the technology of the Fox Engine, then I'd love to participate in that respect."

Konami publishes both franchises: Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill. It's interesting to imagine what a Silent Hill game made by Kojima would be like, whether or not it's a good fit.

343 Industries shows off two Spartan Ops missions - 'Land Grab' and 'Sniper Alley'

Microsft and 343 Industries have released a new batch of screenshots showing off two of Halo 4's Spartan Ops missions: 'Land Grab' and 'Sniper Alley'.

For those who haven't been keeping up, Spartan Ops is a separate, episodic adventure that follow the Majestic Squad aboard the UNSC Infinity. Each week, five new Spartan Ops missions will be delivered to Halo 4 players for free. The missions will continue for a total of 10 weeks during season one, and are expected to add up to 12 hours of gameplay in addition to what the Halo 4 campaign already offers.

The screenshots today seem to give us a look at two of the first five missions that will be delivered week one.

The first three images are of Spartan Ops Episode 1.01 - Land Grab. There isn't any description to go along with them, but one of the images was titled "Episode 1, Mission 1 - Quarry map". Although we have no idea what it's about, it looks like it entails some action-packed sequences with the Warthog.

The second three images are of Spartan Ops Episode 1.02 - Sniper Alley. This looks to take place on the same desert map, but rather inside of a base, or at least defending a base. Once again, there is no description with these, so your guess is as good as ours.

Halo 4 is set to release on November 6, but we don't yet know when 343 Industries will launch the first series of Spartan Ops missions.

Ex-Rare devs rally on Twitter for a new Banjo-Tooie

On Twitter, former Rare developers Grant Kirkhope and Stephen Hurst have voiced their interest in making a spiritual successor to Banjo-Tooie.

Kirkhope was the composer for the original, which released for Nintendo 64 in 2000 and Xbox Live Arcade in 2009. The confirmation on Twitter mentions that the account holder (@MingyJongo) makes a third developer campaigning for the new game, which would likely be a 3D platformer made with the Unity engine.

The developers want to create "a game that shares that same kind of humor, silly characters, fun gameplay, great tunes, and all that stuff that we enjoy making."

"It wouldn't be to try and recreate Banjo," the dev tweeted. "It would be something new."

It's possible the developers will turn to Kickstarter with their proposal.

Conan O'Brien and Alex Morgan get their groove on with Just Dance 4

Late Night host Conan 'O'Brien is back with another hilarious segment of "Clueless Gamer", a bit where Conan plays and reviews video games while absolutely knowing nothing at all about games.

In last night's segment, Conan takes on Just Dance 4, Ubisoft's upcoming music game which judges players based on their ability to mimic on-screen dancers performing a routine to a chosen song.

Replacing his usual partner, Aaron Bleyaert, who helps him play through these games is Olympic gold medalist Alex Morgan, who makes it very clear that her medal was won in soccer and not dancing. But will that stop her from embarrassing Conan in a dance off? I think we both know the answer to that.

Still, despite knowing Conan will be absolutely terrible at the game, it's still a pretty entertaining bit. It's not as funny as some of his other Clueless Gamer reviews since he's not able to go off on a tangent as easily, but watching Conan attempt to perform these dance moves is still pretty hilarious. Not to mention, you'll probably get a good idea of how stupid you look while playing Just Dance 4 by watching Conan.

Assassin's Creed 3 'Boston Tea Party' trailer teaches us about history

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin's Creed 3 aimed at providing a "deeper understanding of the event that started the revolution and the birth of a nation". Given the game's new Colonial America setting and its deep involvement in the American Revolution, it's only fitting that they release a trailer for the famed Boston Tea Party. As you'll soon see, this is no ordinary party.

The trailer hardly shows any gameplay footage (8 seconds to be exact), but you do get a nice little history lesson along with beautifully drawn pictures. Who says you can't learn anything from video games?

For those unfamiliar with U.S. History, the Boston Tea Party took place in 1773. The American colonies who, at the time, were under British rule grew restless of the empire's enforced law and taxes. In an act of solidarity, the American colonists took a stand and stuck it to the British by destroying British imports, boycotting their taxes, and halting their tyrannical momentum.

In Assassin's Creed 3, you will relive this and other historical events when it releases on October 30.

The Humble Indie Bundle 6 now includes Bit.trip Runner, Gratuitous Space Battles, Jamestown, and Wizorb in addition to Torchlight, Rochard, Shatter, Space Pirates and Zombies, Vessel, and the bonus Dustforce. These DRM-free titles run on PC, Mac, and Linux and can also be redeemed on Steam or the Ubuntu Software Center. Soundtracks accompany the purchase.

Contributions benefit the developers, the Child’s Play Charity, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Six days remain to take advantage of the deal, and over 247,000 bundles have been sold so far.

After a month's wait, here's part 2 of the Guardians of Middle-earth MOBA pro feedback

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released the second part of the behind the documentary which featured pro MOBA players playtesting the upcoming console MOBA game Guardians of Middle-earth.

When we left off last month, the 8 professional gamers spent the day playing the game and providing feedback to the developers at Monolith Productions. Rather than going out to dinner with the gamers, the developers stayed back at the studio to apply many of the changes the pros had suggested, clearly demonstrating their dedication to creating a fun and balanced game.

Today's video shows another playthrough with the pros, but this time with the changes from feedback in place. Some of the changes include increasing the respawn timer, making the NPC soldier stronger, and lowering the capture time of various points around the map.

How do the pros feel about the changes? You'll have to watch the video to find out. When I played Guardians of Middle-earth at E3 earlier this year I was definitely surprised at how well they were able to create a MOBA experience on the consoles. I did, however, notice a few particular things that hopefully the pros caught (they probably did). Guardians of Middle-earth is set to release on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network in fall 2012.

These Remember Me screens may stay ingrained in your memory

I have to admit that a game I haven't really been watching out for is Remember Me. That is, of course, until now. After checking out Capcom's latest screens for its upcoming action title, I'm pretty excited to play the game for myself.

Remember Me features an emphasis on pure combat, but it also allows you to perform a clever trick known as "memory mixing." You'll be able to enter the minds of your targets and totally mess with them. You can then play a different memory in their minds and alter their thoughts in the process. Potentially awesome stuff indeed!

Capcom will be launching Remember Me next year on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Watch out for it. I know I won't be forgetting about this one anytime soon. (See what I did there?)

This Borderlands 2 bug will kick your badass

Players are reporting a nasty bug in Borderlands 2 that resets your badass rank.

The glitch wipes the number of badass tokens you have collected, but it doesn't re-open the challenges you cleared to get them. Items and upgrades purchased with the tokens are also disappearing, but the points aren't returning to the player's total.

Complaints on the game's forums indicate that the issue is common across all three versions: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Gearbox Software is looking into the problem. Hopefully, they can recover the lost tokens. In the meantime, players have suggested solutions for both the 360 and PS3.

Resident Evil 6's TGS trailer reminds us there's story with our zombie killing

Capcom has released a new trailer for upcoming shooter Resident Evil 6. Previously shown at Capcom's booth during the Tokyo Game Show last week, the new trailer features intense action and lots of high tension situations with a heavy emphasis on the game's narrative.

Featuring three separate campaigns, you play as Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jake Muller in a campaign that's at least twice in length compared to Resident Evil 5. Capcom, for a while now, has been touting the length and depth of Resident Evil 6's story, and this trailer gives us a heavy dose of it...along with the expected action and explosions.

For a "clueless gamer" like Conan, a game such as Resident Evil 6 shouldn't have story, but for me I appreciate the effort Capcom seems to have put in to develop a memorable narrative experience.

Resident Evil 6 is set to release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 2. A PC version will follow shortly after.

Dante has giant fists in these DmC screens

DmC: Devil May Cry may be launching until early next year, but we've got some brand new screens for you right now. Revealed at the Tokyo Game Show by Capcom, these images are especially awesome because they feature ...

... giant fists! Well, okay, to be fair, they're actually gauntlets, but still. It looks like Dante can now pack quite the punch (See what I did there?) as he takes control of these demonic gauntlets known as the Eryx.

The upcoming Devil May Cry reboot is due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 13, 2013, with the PC version of the game scheduled to release later in the year following the console versions.

New WWE '13 screenshots show off 'I Quit' and 'King of the Ring' matches

A quartet of new WWE '13 screens have been released highlighting two popular types of wrestling matches: "I Quit" and "King of the Ring".

The first set of screenshots recreate the infamous 1999 "I Quit" match between The Rock and Mankind. For those unfamiliar, an "I Quit" match can only be won by having the opponent actually stating, "I quit." Merely tapping out in submission is not enough.

The second set of screens display the recently revived King of the Ring single-elimination tournament. Brought back as an inter-brand event for both Raw and SmackDown, the King of the Ring screenshots show the recognizable bracket along with CM Punk sitting on a throne.

WWE '13 is set to release on October 30, 2012. Pre-ordering today will land you iconic superstar, "Iron" Mike Tyson.

Borderlands 2 becomes UK's biggest launch of 2012

Borderlands 2 has dethroned Mass Effect 3 as the biggest UK launch in 2012. The first-person, co-op RPG shooter/looter debuted at the top of the All Formats Chart. According to GfK it outsold Mass Effect 3 by over 4,000 sales.

It's quite an improvement on the original which made it only to the number 7 spot when it was released on Xbox 360 and PS3. Borderlands 2 has outsold the original by more than four to one. Of these sales, 71% have been for the Xbox 360 version, compared to 22% on PS3 and 7% on PC.

As for other titles, F1 2012 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 finished second and third, respectively. Square Enix's open world action-adventure Sleeping Dogs dropped to fourth after being last week's top seller. Guild Wars 2 is still boasting impressive sales, finishing ninth. Below are the top 10 software sales.

Joe Danger is back, and his latest stunt-fest is yet another thrill ride worth checking out.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition review (PC)

Some glaring flaws keep this PC port from being as great as it should’ve been, but overall, this is Dark Souls through and through, and it’s still one hell of a ride.

Guild Wars 2 review (PC)

This MMO endeavor lives up to the hype and delivers on all grounds, offering up a ton of quality gameplay content for no subscription fee.

LittleBigPlanet Vita review (Vita)

If you’re looking for some platforming and customization bliss on your Vita, you really can’t go wrong with LittleBigPlanet.

Battlefield 3: Armored Kill review (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

If you’re looking to add more Battlefield 3 to your life, this expansion pack is for you. It won’t change the game much, but it’ll certainly give you more of what you already like.

Splice review (PC)

This indie puzzler may not be for everyone, but fans of the genre will find a truly mine-breaking experience worth checking out.

Rigonauts review (PC)

While there’s definitely some fun to be had here, this title ultimately feels more like a mobile game than a PC experience.

Skyrim: Hearthfire review (Xbox 360)

Ever wanted to own land and adopt kids in the land of Skyrim? Well, now you can.

Legends of Pegasus review (PC)

Untapped potential and some noticeably unpolished spots make this PC strategy title hardly worth playing.

Spirits review (PC)

Nice visuals aside, this point-and-click puzzler doesn’t manage to offer up anything more than a frustrating experience.

Dredd 3D review (Movies)

High on violence and sci-fi spirit, this surprisingly enjoyable flick is worth watching by fans of the genre.

Dragon Ball Z for Kinect screens make me want to punch you

While at the Tokyo Game Show, Namco Bandai decided to release some new screenshots for several of its games. We've been sharing the screens with you right here on GameZone, and now we're givin' ya some more.

The latest batch of screens showcases Dragon Ball Z for Kinect. I don't know how to really describe this other than by saying that it looks like a Dragon Ball Z game, and it's headed to Kinect. Hard facts, people!

In any case, here are some new screens of the game for you to check out if you dig the series. I wonder how this game works. Do you just have to fling your arms around and punch the air? If so, I foresee a lot of injuries. Sweet, hilarious injuries.

DmC: Devil May Cry for PC is coming 'shortly' after the console versions

Players who want the PC version of DmC: Devil May Cry are going to have to wait a little longer than console gamers.

"I can't give you a day and date," producer Alex Jones told Eurogamer at the Tokyo Game Show. "What I can say we're endeavoring to get it out as shortly after the main game as possible so there's as little a gap between those two as we can reasonably get."

Jones revealed that Ninja Theory isn't developing the PC version of DmC — it's been outsourced to QLOC, a company that specializes in porting and localization efforts and worked on other Capcom games for computers, such as Street Fighter x Tekken.

"Because it's being developed out of house by a different developer from Ninja Theory there are logistical things involved," he said. "But the plan is to get it out shortly after the ship date for the console version."

Jones also denied that Virgil is a playable character. "I don't want to be coy about that and have people think they're getting one thing when they're getting another.".

As for the newly revealed weapons the Gauntlets, Jones said "they will be the Kryptonite weapon to a couple of the enemies' attacks or the enemies themselves."

DmC: Devil May Cry hits consoles on January 15, 2013.

FIFA 13 Ultimate Team exploit gets players permanent bans

A bunch of players just got hit with the ban hammer. EA Sports has issued permanent bans to players that recently used the FIFA 13 Ultimate Team exploit. EA announced on their FIFA 13 Twitter account: "Yesterday, a very small number of users attempted to gain an unfair advantage on the FUT web app. The FUT13 Web App had to be taken offline to be stabilized and ensure a level playing field for all FUT users.

They continued, "Permanent bans for FIFA 13 FUT have been served to all users who attempted to gain an unfair advantage. Thanks for your patience while we create the best experience for all fans of FUT."

The exploit with FIFA 13 Ultimate Team was a browser exploit that allowed people access to restricted packs of football player cards. It's worried among the community that the star players that were sold on the market — like Messi and Ronaldo — will put the game's economy into jeopardy. Supposedly, the web exploit was pretty easy to achieve, and resulted in EA taking down the Ultimate Team 13 web app. It's now back online, but the issues with the game's economy remains, as well as player concerns as to why this same exploit happened for a second year in a row (FUT 12 had the same exploit last year).

So gamers, do the right thing. When you find an exploit, report it instead of, well, exploiting it.

Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss DLC screens are scary

Does Dark Souls scare the crap out of anyone else? I mean, it can't just be me, right? I know the game's not a survival horror title, but it's still legit creepy. That moody ambiance, the eerie enemies, that dastardly level of challenge. For me, Dark Souls is a stylistically scary game. Now it's about to get a lot harder for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners.

Namco Bandai released some new screenshots of the Artorias of the Abyss DLC. Currently available solely on the PC version of Dark Souls, Artorias of the Abyss will provide more challenges to the game for folks playing on their home consoles.

You can check out the batch of screens in our gallery to the right. See that? It looks like more legitimately scary gameplay. Of course, what makes it so scary is that you just know it's going to be devilishly difficult.

I'm certain a lot of you can't wait.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition 'Artorias of the Abyss' content heading to consoles on October 24

Atorias of the Abyss, the added content that first appeared on the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, will be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 via digital download.

Atorias of the Abyss takes you into the depths of hell through torturous dungeons where you'll encounter epic boss battles and what many consider to be the most challenging gameplay experiences. In the add-on, the darkness born in the forests of Oolacile is expanding and engulfing the kingdom and all of its people; it is your job to stop it. Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss includes new maps and environments, new boss characters, enemies, non-player characters, and a ton of new weapons and armor.

The DLC content will also provide console players with an "enhanced" online PvP mode allowing players to assemble battles against one another.

The add-on will be available for purchase from PlayStation Netowrk and Xbox LIVE on October 24, 2012 in Europe and Australasia. We have contacted Namco to see about a U.S. release date.
